May 17 movement is one such a movement run by youngsters. The May 17 Movement has announced a memorial day to be observed on June 26 at Marina beach in Chennai in memory of the Tamil people killed in the genocide committed by the Government of Sri Lanka.
The public are asked to congregate at the shores of Bay of Bengal with candle light on that day. The location is behind the Kannagi Statue which is a symbol of Justice (Kannagi an ordinary citizen argued with the royal king of Pandya seeking justice for the killing of her innocent husband according to epic Silappathikaram).
